MOVIES Saturday Maleficent 6:15 p.m. & 8 p.m., MC1; 10:40 p.m., MC3 In 1959, Walt Disney released his animated version of the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. And while Princess Aurora is the title character, the evil yet elegant villain of the piece — Maleficent — was, without question, the most memorable creation and would grow to become one of Disney's all-time greatest Big Bads. So it seems only natural that she would get her own story, told in this live-action fantasy about the once-beautiful fairy (Angelina Jolie) who puts a curse on the newborn baby Aurora after she's betrayed by a human king (District 9's Sharlto Copley). But as she watches the girl grow from the shadows, Maleficent's frozen heart slowly begins to thaw. Sunday American Graffiti 12:35 p.m. & 8 p.m., EA2 Before he created Star Wars, George Lucas perfectly captured the early 1960s with this ensemble comedy drama about a group of friends (including Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss and Harrison Ford) spending one last night together before their lives lead them off in different directions. Monday Annie Hall 5 p.m., TCM Woody Allen scored big time at the Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay) for this highly revered romantic comedy about a neurotic comedian who falls in love with an eccentric woman (Diane Keaton, who also took home an Academy Award for her work). The Siege 9:30 a.m. & 8:35 p.m., Spike Edward Zwick's 1998 thriller would prove prophetic in the years that followed, as terrorist attacks prompt the president to declare martial law and a general (Bruce Willis) to detain all young Arab men in Yankee Stadium. Denzel Washington and Annette Bening play two feds caught up in the madness. The Ides of March 9 p.m., CTV Canadian Ryan Gosling stars in this political drama about a hotshot young press secretary who gets embroiled in a scandal and is given a hard lesson in high-level politics that just may result in him having to bring down his boss — a well-respected presidential candidate (George Clooney, who also directed).
