TV Week 67 And speaking of professionals, etalk at the Oscars airs Sunday, right before the little gold men are handed out. Ben Mulroney, Danielle Graham and Lainey Lui will be the only Canadian network broadcasting live from the red carpet on Hollywood's biggest night. This will be Graham's first Oscars since being named co-anchor on etalk in January and the Guelph, Ontario, native is understandably anxious. "I'm beyond excited to see the red carpet in all its glory," says Graham. "I feel like I'm going to need an extra set (or two) of eyes to take it all in." And while we all watch to see what our favourite actresses are wearing, Graham will be looking fabulous. In fact, when we caught up with her, she was in the middle of dress fittings. "It's motivating me to eat as well as I can," says Graham. "Lots of salads, lean proteins, vegetables and fruit. I'll drink water with lemon all day leading up to Sunday to detoxify and keep my skin looking healthy." Of course, there's more to the job than just looking fabulous, as Mulroney well knows. He's been on the carpet before and is the consummate professional. "Prepare for everything that is knowable, and enjoy the chaos of the unknowable," the veteran etalk host explains. "Live TV hosts who are underprepared are awful and those who are over-scripted are no fun. The experience in the middle is where the excitement lives." etalk has the coveted second position on the red carpet, so rest assured the stars will still have that fresh- from-the-limo look but will have burned off the jitters in their first interview. And with Mulroney's quiet charm, viewers are sure to get some good stuff from the celebs he's grown to know over the years. "We have developed a rapport with some of Hollywood's A-list," says Mulroney. "Ryan Reynolds and I have always had a great rapport on red carpets, ever since he opened our Oscar coverage one year and congratulated me on having twins (I didn't even know he knew!). George Clooney also is a great live interview . . . but I will always miss Robin Williams, who was the consummate wild card." Though it won't be the same without Williams' shenanigans, the red carpet is always one of the brightest and most fascinating spectacles on the planet. And we should be thankful we can watch it in our pyjamas. off the jitters in their first interview. And Ben Mulroney at the 2014 Academy Awards.
