INCOME PROPERTY Thursday, 6 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. (repeating at 9 p.m. & 9:30 p.m.), HGTV Q How are you feeling about season 10 of Income Property? A It's pretty awesome. Ten was a milestone, for sure, so when we started filming, we wanted to do it a little bit different. We wanted to be a bit crazier. Q What was it you wanted to do that was different from other seasons? A We're going to look for all kinds of different stories. We took the show to further locations. We decided we would spend the summer showing people how to make money on vacation rentals. And we just had fun. We went surfing. We went water skiing. We just immersed ourselves into production this year. Q What's it been like for you to insert so much more of your personal life into the show this year? A The show has just become such a part of my life. I've been doing it for eight years, and since then I've got married and had two kids. We have a huge production team and when you shoot with these guys five days a week, they become your family. So I said, "All right, let's just be real." Let's pull back the curtain. If the crew is in the shot, the crew is in the shot. I brought my family out to cottage country. We're working, but we're also playing. It's very light. Q Are you interested in exploring a show about you and your family? A I don't know. We're not a Kardashian family. What works for families on TV is not always what's best for the family, right? My wife and kids are in a couple episodes, but the show is not about a huge fight that we're having or about the drama of raising children. The next project might be something more personal. There are two or three concepts that we've been waiting to do for a while and this might be the right time to do it. It coincides well with what's going on in my life, but the show won't necessarily be revolving around the family. It'll be around the concept that I'm used to. Q We heard you're also taking over the network . . . for a day at least. A I proposed something to the network. I said, "You know what would be even better? If I just take over the network on launch day, and spend the whole day showing you my favourite episodes." All day we're going to play the episodes we want — plus, we're going to do some behind-the-scenes stuff in between. Q Is this when we get to see you in a boy band? A I don't want to talk about that [laughs]. Q Come on. Do you have a boy band, Scott? A There may be some boy band footage on the launch day. It's going to be funny and fun and a bit embarrassing all at the same time. I also like when our homeowners have some sort of skill set or specialty. We worked with wrestlers and cops and gymnasts and Olympic athletes. So I'm always like, "Let me see if I can do it." I've wrestled with the wrestlers. I've done hurdles with the hurdlers. I've done gymnastics and yoga and Reiki and whatever these people are into. It always ends up being such a hoot and totally out of whack, but it never makes the show. I even tried to run a marathon with our marathon runner. Q And how did that end up working out for you? A I don't want to talk about it [laughs]. H G T V 70 TV WEEK Last Word... Last Word...
