and you overhear a conversation the likes of, "i

arrested a criminal at igA." now think of all the
acronyms and linguistic shortcuts we use in our
conversations around a home purchase or a
mortgage.
As a public service to all those who may
have recently arrived from outside Canada (or
another planet), i am going to define a few
expressions not widely understood outside the
financial industry:

any of us will remember the television show
Mork and Mindy. the 1970s comedy revolved
around the misunderstandings mork, an
alien, encountered with expressions and common
traditions that we take for granted in our society. it
made for a funny show but it's not so funny if you
are new to Canada and want to make the largest
purchase in your life.
