A B C , F O X Battle of the Sexes AMERICAN IDOL Wednesday & Thursday, 8 p.m., CHEK & Fox T hese days, it's rare that any sort of talent competition uses the ol' men versus women gimmick, but as Idol continues to trudge along in its 14th season, it's proving that it has no problems sticking with its tried-and-increasingly-less- true formula when it comes to the putting contestants through their paces. Now that Hollywood week is over, it's time for audiences to start weighing in on who they want to see crowned the next winner of the singing competition, and they're going to have a chance to decide on both a male and a female this week. On Wednesday night the series pits the top-12 guys who have made J-Lo, Keith and Harry's final list against one another in a bid to croon for the audience's hearts. Then, on Thursday evening, it's the top-12 gals' time to shine when they unveil their own song choices (not to mention style and range). It's also a fine time for under-the-table bets and drinking games to commence, as we all judge which crop of singers has what it takes to be a champ, and which group will lose this unofficial battle of the sexes. Rad Ads TV'S HOTTEST COMMERCIALS COUNTDOWN Tuesday, 8 p.m., The CW It's true that in this era of PVRs, we can just record our shows and fast-forward through the commercials. But we all have one or two TV ads that we're eager to stop and take a gander at. This week The CW counts down some of today's best. FAME & FASHION TV WEEK 19 ON THE RED CARPET AT THE OSCARS Sunday, 2 p.m., ABC A lthough getting a shiny trophy is always nice validation during a big event like the Academy Awards, in the eyes of some folks, making the "best- dressed" lists on the blogs the following morning is an even bigger deal (and tougher to pull off!). Through plunging necklines, sparkles and extravagant hairdos, all the stars are expected to bring their A-games to this annual red-carpet march. Thanks to instant analysis from the crack team of hosts, audiences will know every down and dirty detail about every single frock, accessory and nail-art design to grace each celeb. Oh, and we're sure there will be the occasional question or two about their movies, as well. Hot Reality TV
